Fancy a hike with a view? Two awesome trails right on your doorstep. Staying at Hotel Alberello? Brilliant! You’re literally a stone’s throw from two amazing trails. Just hop on the cycle path outside the hotel, and you’ll be in the heart of Riva in no time. From there, it’s a walker’s paradise, but I’ve got two routes you absolutely have to try.
The Ponale Road: a Lake Garda legend
First up, the iconic Ponale Road. This old path winds its way along the cliffs overlooking the lake, and the views? Let’s just say they’re postcard-perfect. Seriously, this is one for the memory books.
Imagine this: you’re strolling along, suspended between the shimmering blue lake and the clear sky, with stunning scenery at every turn. The Ponale is basically an open-air museum, with tunnels carved into the rock and the ruins of the Tagliata del Ponale, a massive Austrian fort from 1860. You can’t always go inside (health and safety, you know), but even from the outside, it’s seriously impressive.
Oh, and don’t forget to look around! The nature here is incredible, with loads of different plants and flowers. You might even spot a squirrel or some rare birds if you’re lucky.
Monte Brione: history, nature, and panoramic views
Next, we’ve got the loop around Monte Brione. It’s a bit shorter than the Ponale Road, but just as awesome. This mountain sits between Riva del Garda and Torbole, and from the top, you get a 360-degree view of the lake and the mountains – it’s breathtaking!
The trail starts at Porto San Nicolò and takes you through olive groves and woodland before reaching the summit. Along the way, you’ll see trenches and fortifications from the First World War – a reminder of the area’s history. But Brione is also a haven for wildlife, with tons of unique plants and animals. They’ve even found 20 different types of orchids here!
This walk is pretty easy, perfect for all levels. But if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a short rocky section that leads to Sant’Alessandro. From there, just follow the signs for the cycle path to get back to where you started.
Chill out by the pool at Hotel Alberello
After all that hiking, you’ll probably want to chill out. Well, at Hotel Alberello, you can relax by the pool and soak up those panoramic views. And if you fancy a drink, grab something from the bar and enjoy it by the pool while watching the sunset. Bliss!
So, if you’re into hiking and want a hotel in Riva del Garda where you can step out the door and straight onto a trail, Hotel Alberello is the place to be. Book your stay now, and get ready for an unforgettable trip filled with adventure, nature, and relaxation. See you there!
